Stephanie’s Story

my childhood was wholesome but difficult to navigate sometimes. from big family changes, bullying, and economic hardships, sometimes the normal challenges seemed harder. Fortunately, my home with my mom and my sisters was my sanctuary. As a single parent, my mom DEALT with some difficulties. Some that I will never know of or fully understand. When she relocated with her girls from Florida to Connecticut she worked hard to provide for her family. At times, she worked 2 jobs to make ends meet. By the time I was in high school she was finally accepted into the police academy and served for 14 years. Through it all, my mom was ADAMANT about loving her girls. My favorite moments were the times spent at the dinner table laughing our hearts out. Her love for us was evident in her actions, her words, and in her presence. In the midst of her own struggles, she gathered the strength to be our comfort when we were mistreated. She would surprise us with gifts. She showed up when no one else did. She made us feel special when we felt alone. In every circumstance her love was unconditional. though I struggled, I knew that I could rely on our relationship as a protective factor against life’s adversities. she worked so hard to give me a better life, What I want to do for her, is show her how much I appreciate her sacrifice. my relationship with my mother, opened my eyes to how important parent-child relationships are. parents are doing their very best to support their children. Little beats is here to be an additional resource for parents to STRENGTHEN their relationships with their children. on a personal note; it is one way for me to express my love and gratitude to my mother. Every opportunity to serve children and families is my way of saying “thank you, mommy.”
