“A New Holiday”

"A New Holiday" is the debut album introducing Stephanie Holly, MMT, MT-BC, and owner of Little Beats LLC. Little Beats' mission is to strengthen parent-child relationships through the use of music therapy. Although this album is not considered a form of music therapy, its intended purpose is to potentially give children and families a way to find some comfort in what may historically be one of the most difficult holidays to navigate for many. Each Song has a purpose, in her own words, Stephanie share’s her connection behind each piece.

“Take Me Back to Toyland”

This song holds a symbolic meaning of innocence and simplicity that Christmas can have for children. It certainly was for me. This place that is called “Toyland” is now A dream as an adult. Although I get excited about Christmas every year, nothing is like Christmas As it was for me when I was child. But every year, the holidays can still create a sense of hope for the better…that’s something I still have. 

“Deck the Halls with Jingle Bells”

There’s never a Christmas without “Jingle Bells” or “Deck the Halls.” Although they are beloved songs because they remind me of Christmas, they can get tired. LOL! So, I decided to create a version more reflective of my style but also pay homage to my late great grandmother by giving it a lite gospel feel. Christmas at the great-grands house is what made Christmas special. I miss my grandparents and the traditions that left with them. Thankfully, there’s always a way to honor them and those cherished memories with music.

To me, there’s nothing more indicative of the holiday season than the Christmas tree. As an adult, the way I celebrate Christmas has changed in significant ways. but the Christmas tree has been a constant and i’m grateful for that. Oh, How much I love the Christmas tree.

This is a reflection of a true but somewhat exaggerated reality of my work as a music therapist, who works with children. Children have a tendency to be co-facilitators which, honestly, bring a lot of life to a session. Kids being inquisitive is nothing new, but asking these questions about this song for myself are new for me. It seems that what we as adults ask later on in life, kids tend to ask now. Thus, we have 12 days of Christmas (kids version). i still don’t know why i never asked these questions myself. Ha!

”The First Noel”

This song brings back a lovely memory and the very first time I heard a beautiful acapella rendition of this song. As a child, I enjoyed being home, warm and in my favorite space; my bedroom while watching the snowfall. Having Christmas music playing in the background is another unchanging emblem for the holidays. So I decided to keep this song as is, as a reflection of that constant.

“We Wish You A New Holiday”

This song acknowledges the reason for making this album. For me, it is a way to honor the past, and find gratitude for the present. Change during the Holidays is something I’m too familiar with. It’s not easy and this year has surely proved itself to be a challenge. But, every year, I find something to be grateful for. Music has been an unfailing comfort for me during those changes. I hope that listeners can find their peace this holiday, no matter where you’re at or feeling. I wish you a meaningful and new Holiday.
